內容簡介

本書多角度描述了鴉片戰爭前夕的中國社會以及中英之間在正當貿易和鴉片走私反走私之間的互動。歷史地考察鴉片在中國氾濫和流動的方式，系統敘述了清王朝的禁煙政策在各個階段的演變，說明鴉片戰爭是在禁煙政策逐漸演變為禁煙程中，最終造成武裝衝突的。同時，通過對清皇朝時期中國社會、政治及對外關係具體狀況的描述，指出清皇朝盲目自大，自我封閉的文化心態。



作者簡介


沈渭濱（1937—2015）


上海七寶人，復旦大學歷史系教授。師承魏建猷、陳旭麓，以審慎思辨、敢於創新的作史風格見長。在辛亥革命、太平天國、鴉片戰爭等領域有精深研究，在中國近代軍事史、民族資產階級研究上有開創之功，在會黨史、區域文化史與社會史、人物研究與地方史志等方面亦卓有成就。
