在香港，每年農曆三月二十三日是天后的誕辰，信眾都會前往天后廟參拜，到戲棚欣賞神功戲，或參加太平清醮的儀式環節、交換花炮等，感謝天后的庇護，是為天后誕。香港有約百間大小不同的天后廟，信眾透過天后廟的祭祀活動，發揮團結社區與族群的作用。本書結合文獻與口述歷史，講述天后的由來；天后廟的格局、功能和發展；香港天后誕的活動和禮儀，以至天后誕的保育意義等。




作者簡介


廖迪生，文化人類學者，美國匹茲堡大學人類學博士，香港科技大學人文學部榮休副教授、前華南研究中心主任。專研香港與華南地方社會文化；研究興趣包括：民間宗教、文化傳承與保育、食物與全球化、族群認同、家庭與親屬關係等。著作包括《香港廟宇》、《大時代中一位老香港的足跡：何銘思口述史》、《香港天后崇拜》等。
