本書梳理了從1924年馮玉祥驅逐溥儀出宮、1925年10月10日成立故宮博物院，到1949年間，李煜瀛、莊蘊寬、趙爾巽、江翰、王士珍、易培基、馬衡七位故宮掌門人在文化政治大變局中為保護故宮和中華珍貴文化遺產所做的舉措和努力。全書收錄了百餘幅珍稀影像，視覺化還原歷史細節，讓讀者重返故宮博物院成立二十四年間的「第一現場」。

作者簡介

章宏偉，歷史學博士，故宮博物院研究館員，南開大學兼職教授、博士生導師，主要研究方向為故宮學、中國圖書史與明清史。獨著有《出版文化史論》《故宮問學》《十六—十九世紀中國出版研究》《故宮學的視野》《作為學問的故宮學》等，合著有《當代中國的出版事業》《中國編輯出版史》等。曾以總策劃、製片人的身份負責故宮博物院與中央電視台合作拍攝電視紀錄片《故宮》。
