內容簡介

「大館」（前中區警署，舊稱「中央警署」），實指前中區警署、前中央裁判司署和舊域多利監獄等建築群。中國未割讓香港給英國前，已在此建立法治社區；而英國人在開埠前亦已在此建立監獄等設施，令大館成為香港中西法治之源。

作者何明新先生是香港警察歷史上，唯一一位曾服務於大館不同警察單位的警務人員，現透過即將於本年底活化的「大館」，帶大家看他40多年來在館內館外的所見所聞，把這片大而完整的建築群長達150多年的歷史文化和趣聞軼事，一一展現。書中有達250多張珍貴圖片，歷史性和趣味性兼備。



作者簡介

何明新

香港警務處前高級警司。通識硏究社會科學碩士，中國研究社會科學學士和公共行政社會科學學士。1976年加入皇家香港警察隊為警員，2009年晉升至高級警司，服務社會38年後退休。現為專欄作家及講師，研究興趣主要包括歷史和各地文化；並擔任香港警務處退役同僚協會主席、香港大學犯罪學中心名譽研究員、香港警察郵學會永遠名譽顧問和香港警察園藝會永遠名譽顧問。合著作品有《謹以至誠：香港警察歷史影像》中英文版、《佔中運動實錄》中英文版、《郵歷香江》。
