《香港．開港》是一本具開創性的歷史著作，作者林準祥博士根據前人不曾注意或未曾發掘的香港早期史料，作出重新檢視，提出了不少新見解。本書涵蓋內容包括：探討香港島如何被西方發現，重温香港名稱的來源，介紹島內重要的村莊、地名和街道的命名依據，觸及開埠初期的城市建設、土地政策、司法、教育、商業、貿易和金融等，對香港島開埠最初階段的歷史，進行深入的硏讀。本書主題盡量避免前人已作詳細談論的內容，集中討論其中被忽略或歷史觀點與前人的研究有别，甚具爭辯性，必將引起讀者的關注和回響。

作者簡介
林準祥，香港大學歷史系哲學博士。中西古籍藏家、香港康樂及文化事務處博物館專家顧問、香港聖公會檔案及歷史咨詢委員會會員；曾任上海大學基督宗教研究中心名譽教授、英國皇家錢幣學會會員、香港錢幣研究會永久會員。多年任職服裝及家品開發和貿易高級管理工作；業餘研究中國早期銀行和貨幣發展史，曾在國內外發表多篇經濟史論文、香港早期地名歷史研究等文章。近年著有《銀流票匯──中國早期銀行業與香港》，亦參與研究中西早期文化交流和基督宗教在華發展等歷史。
