《何止工程：工程拓展二十年（2004-2024）》記錄了香港土地拓展及基礎設施的發展歷史。在香港，負責土地拓展及基建的其中一個主要政府機構是土木工程拓展署。土木工程拓展署成立於2004 年，由拓展署和土木工程署兩個政府部門合併而成。此前，拓展署負責規劃新市鎮、鄉鎮及主要新市區的發展；土木工程署則負責較為技術性的工作，如土地平整、填海、斜坡安全等。由2004年合併至今，剛好是土木工程拓展署成立二十周年。

本書記錄了土木工程拓展署在這二十年間的成就，同時反映了土木工程拓展署如何在「以人為本」、「發展與保育平衡」以及「運用創新科技」的大前提下，為香港創造了可持續發展的宜居環境。




作者簡介


張瑞威教授，香港出生、長大，香港中文大學文學士，英國牛津大學碩士、博士。現任香港中文大學歷史系系主任、教授，中國歷史研究中心主任、比較及公眾歷史研究中心主任。主要教授香港土地制度與習慣。

作者一直對香港歷史情有獨鍾，除了見證其歷史轉變外，更自1997 年起，積極投入田野調查和文獻研究中。幾近三十年，作者在香港各區都曾進行大量的訪談，相關專著有《拆村：消逝的九龍村落》、《活著的祖宗：九龍中部的舊村、祖堂和祖墳》和Colonial Administration and Land Reform in East Asia。
