自大坑舞火龍有百多年的歷史， 每年農曆八月十四、十五及十六日三晚，大坑的坊眾舞動火龍，巡遊社區，為居民帶來運氣與認同。大坑舞火龍活動處於急速變化的香港社會，坊眾需要傳承傳統及面對新挑戰，配合環境的變化。唯一不變的是大坑的火龍傳說以及對舞火龍的熱情與堅持。本書通過對大坑舞火龍的歷史、文化及社會的介紹，令讀者了解大坑舞火龍的傳承，及其成為國家級非物質文化遺產的意義。




作者簡介


廖迪生，文化人類學者，美國匹茲堡大學人類學博士，香港科技大學人文學部榮休副教授、前華南研究中心主任。專研香港與華南地方社會文化；研究興趣包括：民間宗教、文化傳承與保育、食物與全球化、族群認同、家庭與親屬關係等。著作包括《香港廟宇》、《大時代中一位老香港的足跡：何銘思口述史》、《香港天后崇拜》等。
